We believe that Golden Retrievers are the greatest dog in the world but we are prejudice. They are a terrific family dog! With that in mind, we don't have traditional kennel dogs but family dogs that are best friends with our children. Our friends frequently come to visit & love to see our pets. Our goal is for our dogs to have constant opportunities to spend time with people because Golden Retrievers are well known for being 'people oriented' dogs. To be sure our puppies get off to the most optimum physical and mental start; they are born & reared in our home. We begin training early to help promote a happy, healthy Golden. Our puppies are exposed to touch, sound, textures, and different environments as they show they are ready. All of our dogs are registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC). They are submitted for health screenings, as recommended by the GRCA (Golden Retriever Club of America) including hips, elbows, eyes & heart. Our family's goal is to improve the breed of the dog plus deliver a positive but well-informed experience to our clients.
Current Genetic Screening:
In an effort to minimize the instance of hip dysplasia (HD), all of our breeding dog(s) have hip x-rays sent to the OFA (www.offa.org) at or after 24 months of age. The results are then registered with the OFA.
In an effort to minimize the instance of elbow dysplasia (ED), all of our breeding dog(s) have elbow x-rays sent to the OFA (www.offa.org) at or after 24 months of age. The results are then registered with the OFA.
Hearts are examined after 12 months of age by an ACVIM board certified Veterinary Cardiologist on all breeding dogs. This is an effort to minimize the instance of hereditary Sub-aortic Stenosis (SAS). Reports are then held on file & published with the OFA.
Eye exams are performed by a DACVO board certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist, following the procedure set forth by the Canine Eye Registration Foundation (CERF). All breeding dogs are examined every 12 to 18 months while in the breeding program in keeping with the recommendations set forth by the GRCA. Pet dogs and retired breeding dogs are screened at 24 months, 48 months and after 6 years of age as it is recommended they are examined yearly by DACVO Veterinary Ophthalmologist. Reports are held on file & submitted to OFA.
